St. Louis Rams backup QB Chris Chandler, starting in place of the injured Marc Bulger, threw 6 interceptions today.
Look, that’s really all you need to know about this game. How often are you going to win a game when your QB throws it to the wrong jersey six times? Granted, not all of the interceptions were Chandler’s fault, but they happened, and that pretty much killed the Rams today.
As for the Panthers, they scored all the points they needed to score in the first half, which was good, because Jake Delhomme’s bad thumb clearly impacted him later in the game. Nick Goings, meanwhile, got his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, tying a franchise record set last year by Stephen Davis. Goings finished with 108 yards on 31 carries. WR Muhsin Muhammed, meanwhile, caught 6 passes for 98 yards and one 1st quarter TD, and rookie Keary Colbert snagged five catches for 46 yards.
Now the Panthers are 6-7 and in much stronger position for the last Wild Card spot, thanks to so many losses by other NFC teams that were 5-7 coming into today. The Rams, meanwhile, fall to 6-7 themselves, a game behind the Seahawks, who won in Minnesota today. The NFC playoff picture just got really interesting…
