All is not looking well in Latrobe.
First, the Steelers drag Hines Ward’s heart around with a weak contract offer. Then, Duce Staley tears up his meniscus and is out a month. Now comes word that linebacker Joey Porter will be out five weeks with a hyperextended knee.
Pittsburgh opens the season at home against Tennessee, which is in reconfigure-for-the-future mode. At the current rate, the Steelers may not have their full team together until Week 3 against New England. The first half of the season is a bear for this team. I love my Steelers, but I’m starting to wonder if they’re about to suffer for last season’s success…
