Yeah, I messed up. The source I used for the Steelers’ postseason records, Pro-Football-Reference.com, had no record of the 1962 Playoff Bowl. So the Steelers played in two postseason games before the 1970s.
Still, the point is that the Steelers just weren’t that good before Chuck Noll showed up, so if Steeler Nation still revels in the 70s, it’s because there was nothing before that to celebrate. Two postseason games between 1933 and 1969? Not so good.
