Aikman: 86 the Pro Bowl

Troy Aikman on the Pro Bowl:

“I know Paul Tagliabue isn’t going to want to hear this: Nobody wants to play in a Pro Bowl. Everybody wants to be voted in. Everybody wants to be in Hawaii. But nobody wants to play. The roster is filled with alternate players. The guys who are voted in aren’t even on the field.

“The last Pro Bowl I played in, the first play I was in the game, Derrick Thomas blitzed off the backside and just ear-holed me. Nobody was going to block him; hell, he wasn’t supposed to come. And you’re just laid out there, because they want to win the car, they want to be the MVP. What do they care? ‘OK, we got a penalty.’ To me, it’s dangerous.”

Word booty.
